What is a marketing MCP server?
A marketing MCP server is a connector that lets an AI assistant such as Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor read, and often change, data in a marketing tool through the Model Context Protocol. Each server offers a fixed list of actions and runs them under your permissions. Read what an MCP server does for the detail.
Which MCP servers should a marketing team connect first?
For most teams, start with your CRM, your analytics and your main ad platform, and connect them read-only. Add lifecycle tools next, and your warehouse once questions join tools. Add a server only when a question needs data your current servers can't reach. Our marketing MCP guide gives a starting stack per team type.
What does official mean in this directory?
Official means the tool's own vendor publishes the server. Everything else is marked community, including servers from other companies, such as Stape's server for Google Tag Manager. A server named after a vendor counts as official only when the vendor publishes it. Stages such as beta or early access use the vendor's own words.
- Hosted: the server runs at a URL someone else operates, and you connect and sign in.
- Local: the server runs on your machine or your own server.
- Reads only: no documented tool changes data.
- Can change data: at least one tool can write, send, spend or publish.
- Documented for: the AI clients the vendor itself names. A server can work in others too.
Which marketing tools have no official MCP server?
These tools have no official server you can connect today. Some have a third-party or community server, and Zendesk has announced one without public docs. LinkedIn Ads is close: LinkedIn's own read-only app works in ChatGPT, with no server URL for other clients. Each entry says what works instead.
Can a marketing MCP server change your data?
Yes, many can. Use the read or write filter above before you connect one. Where a server can write, send, spend or publish, start with the narrowest role and keep approval on for every change. The free Agent write safety skill sets those approvals, and the MCP security checklist covers the rest.
How do you connect a marketing MCP server?
Have an admin switch MCP on in the tool if it needs that, add the vendor's URL or listed connector to your AI client, and sign in as yourself. Then list the tools and test one answer you already know. Each tool's page has its own steps for Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor.
