PostHog implementation services, from first event to feature flags

We implement PostHog on a tracking plan: autocapture tuned, named events for what matters, identity and groups, a reverse proxy so ad blockers drop less, then feature flags, experiments and session replay on the same data, with the bill kept in check.

What our PostHog implementation includes

PostHog consultants who turn autocapture into a plan, prove the events against your backend and set every product up to earn its cost, from analytics to flags and replay.

  • Tracking plan and autocapture

Autocapture tuned to record what helps, plus named events for signup, activation and revenue, all in one plan. See event naming conventions.

  • SDKs, server events and a proxy

PostHog on your site, apps and backend, with events sent through a reverse proxy on your own domain so ad blockers drop less.

  • Identity and groups

Anonymous and logged-in users joined, person profiles only where you need them, and groups for companies in B2B. See identity merge.

  • Feature flags and experiments

Flags for rollouts and experiments, with the success metric agreed up front and read from the same events as your dashboards.

  • Session replay and privacy

Replay with inputs and sensitive screens masked, sampled to fit your budget. See PostHog implementation mistakes.

  • Dashboards and validation

Funnels, retention and paths on events checked against your backend, plus web analytics for your marketing pages.

Ask PostHog anything, and let agents act on it

With PostHog connected to Claude over MCP, your team asks about funnels, flags and campaigns in plain English, and agents watch releases, check experiments and keep flags tidy.

  • How did signup conversion change for each UTM campaign after the new pricing page went live?. Reads PostHog over MCP.
  • Which feature flags are fully rolled out and safe to remove from the code?. Reads PostHog flags over MCP.
  • Is the new onboarding experiment significant yet, and on which metric?. Reads PostHog experiments over MCP.
  • PostHog with MCP

PostHog connected to Claude, Cursor or Claude Code through the PostHog MCP server, with a key scoped to your project.

  • PostHog's own AI

PostHog's built-in AI for questions inside PostHog, and Claude where questions span PostHog, your CRM and billing.

  • Answers you can check

Named events follow a validated plan, so AI answers about activation and campaigns read the same data as your dashboards.

  • Release watch

Agents that compare key events before and after each release and flag what broke, before a week of data is lost.

With every implementation

  • Yours after handover

The MCP access, the agents and the docs live in your own accounts. Your team runs it all with AI, without depending on us.

  • No retainer needed

A one-time setup at a fixed price. There is no monthly retainer to keep it running, so your costs go down over time.

  • Right from day one

Anyone can set up a tool with AI, but it's only as good as what the AI guesses. We know what works from 74+ implementations.

  • Free martech AI agent

Every implementation includes it: slash commands and skills that run your whole stack in Claude Code.

    See the agent

Who our PostHog implementation is for

Most teams come to us at one of four points, and the scope is written for yours before any work starts.

Not the right fit if you want PostHog self-hosted at scale. We implement PostHog Cloud, in the US or EU region.

  • PostHog freshly installed

The snippet is in and autocapture is on. We turn it into a plan, events and dashboards your team actually uses.

  • Moving from Mixpanel, Amplitude or GA4

A plan mapped from your old events, with GA4 kept for marketing if you want; history imports are a custom plan. See PostHog vs Mixpanel.

  • A bill that grew too fast

Replay, person profiles and events tuned so you pay for what you use. See PostHog pricing.

  • Privacy-sensitive products

Health, finance or education products that need EU hosting, masking and consent done carefully.

PostHog with the rest of your stack

PostHog can collect, store and send data, so the question is which job each tool does. We decide that with you and connect the rest.

  • Your warehouse

PostHog events exported to Snowflake or BigQuery, or billing and CRM data joined in PostHog's own data warehouse.

  • Twilio Segment or RudderStack

Events sent through Segment or RudderStack if you already collect them there.

  • Lifecycle messaging

Cohorts and events sent to Customer.io or Braze through PostHog's destinations.

  • CRM

Product usage in HubSpot or Salesforce for product-qualified leads.

  • GA4

GA4 kept for marketing traffic and Google Ads where you need it, on the same naming scheme. See GA4 consulting.

What's not included

So the fixed price covers exactly what we build, and nothing comes as a surprise later.

  • Your PostHog bill

PostHog bills each product by usage. We set limits and sampling so it stays predictable.

  • Weekly product analysis

We build the dashboards and train your team. Ongoing analysis and experiment design is retainer work.

  • Self-hosted PostHog

We implement PostHog Cloud. Running and scaling a self-hosted instance is not part of this.

Sound familiar?

  • Autocapture recorded everything.

And the one event you need is not there.

  • The bill jumped this month.

Replay and person profiles on every visitor.

  • Flags and dashboards disagree.

Experiments read different events than reports.

  • Ad blockers hide part of your traffic.

Events go straight to a domain they block.

We tune PostHog to a tracking plan, route events through your own domain, keep person profiles and replay where they earn their cost, and wire flags and experiments to the same events as your dashboards.

PostHog implementation, step by step

  1. 01

    Free call or audit

A free call on your PostHog project, or the $99 audit for a written review of what it captures and costs.

  2. 02

    Pick a package

Compare the fixed price packages, then get the detailed scope by email within one business day.

  3. 03

    Tracking plan

Events, identity, groups, replay and flag rules agreed with your team. Nothing is built before you sign it off.

  4. 04

    Build

SDKs, proxy, server events and integrations set up in a test project first, then in production.

  5. 05

    Prove the data

Events checked in the activity view and with test users, then counts compared with your backend before dashboards ship.

  6. 06

    Hand over

Dashboards, docs and training for your team, plus your martech AI agent and support after launch.

“Faizur helped us transfer Google Analytics conversion events to Google Ads via Segment. We set that up within two or three weeks. Now we have a clear vision of our conversions and we could optimize our campaigns like this. Because if your tracking is not on point, you can't really improve your Google Ads performance.”

“We worked with Faizur when we wanted to set up Mixpanel. What I loved was how detail-oriented he was, and that he wasn't just there to accomplish that one task. He was able to advise us. He suggested setting up Segment and he thought about everything at a macro level, all the way down to the micro. It gave me confidence to outsource this.”

“We recently had the pleasure of working with Faiz on our integration of Segment. Not only did he help us seamlessly set up the integration, but he also went above and beyond to help us establish dashboards in Mixpanel. What was super valuable was having somebody who understood both the business/marketing requirements but also had the technical expertise to execute them.”

PostHog implementation questions, answered

Something else on your mind? Email hello@martechdevs.com or book a free call.

How much does a PostHog implementation cost?

Starter is $4,800 (25% off $6,400), live in 4 weeks, at a fixed price with no hourly billing. Eligible startups get 40% off the list price instead. More brands, markets or a migration from another tool make it a custom plan, priced before work starts. Your PostHog usage is billed by PostHog, not by us. See the fixed price packages.

Do we need to replace GA4 to use PostHog?

No. Many teams keep GA4 for marketing traffic and Google Ads, and use PostHog for product behaviour, flags and replay. PostHog also has web analytics, so some smaller teams drop GA4; we help you decide.

PostHog is already installed. What do you do?

We audit what it captures, then fix it. That usually means turning autocapture noise into named events, joining identities, adding a reverse proxy, and setting replay and person profiles so the bill makes sense.

Can you move our historical data into PostHog?

Yes, as a custom plan. We map old events to the new plan and import the history that matters, so your trends do not restart from zero.

Can you help with feature flags and experiments?

Yes. We set up flags for rollouts and experiments with the success metric agreed before a test starts, reading the same events as your dashboards, and clean up flags once they are fully rolled out.

How do you keep PostHog costs down?

By capturing on purpose. Person profiles only for identified users, replay sampled or limited to key pages, autocapture tuned, and billing limits set for each product. See PostHog pricing.

Can PostHog meet GDPR requirements?

It can be set up for them. PostHog Cloud has an EU region, and we mask inputs in replay, respect consent and keep personal data out of event properties. Your legal team sets the policy; we implement it.

PostHog or Mixpanel?

PostHog suits engineering-led teams that want analytics, replay, flags and experiments in one tool. Mixpanel suits product teams that want fast, polished analytics. See PostHog vs Mixpanel.

How long does a PostHog implementation take?

Starter goes live in 4 weeks, or 2 weeks on super fast. Fixing an existing install is often quicker than starting fresh, and a history import is a custom plan with its own timeline.

Do you provide ongoing support?

Starter includes 30 days of support after handover, up to 10 hours. It covers fixes, questions and new events, flags or dashboards. After that your team runs it with the docs and your martech AI agent, or keeps us on a retainer from $1,980 a month.
