What does a Webflow MCP server do?
The server lets an AI agent build and manage a Webflow site through Webflow's APIs. Webflow lists layouts, styles, components, CMS content, assets, SEO settings and custom code, plus read-only analytics where you have the add-on. Agents work inside your existing permissions, and their changes land in the site's activity log.
- Data tools: these run without an open Designer session or the Bridge App. They cover CMS collections and items, pages and SEO metadata, elements, styles, assets, forms, scripts and site publishing.
- Designer tools:
designer_tool,element_snapshot_toolandasset_toolneed the Designer open and connected. They read and control the current page, mode, branch, selection and canvas, capture element snapshots, and upload images from a URL. - Bridge App: it installs automatically during OAuth. Open your site in the Designer, press
Efor the Apps panel, and launch it. You can minimize it, but it has to stay open.
Is there an official Webflow MCP server?
Yes. Webflow runs the hosted server, documents it on its developer site and publishes webflow/mcp-server under the MIT licence. Claude's directory lists Webflow as the maker. Webflow also runs a Beta server for experimental tools and a separate documentation server for its developer docs.
What is the Webflow MCP server URL, and how do you sign in?
The URL is https://mcp.webflow.com/mcp, and you sign in with OAuth. During authorization you choose the sites or workspaces to allow, and the Bridge App installs itself. Only site owners and admins can authorize. Each authorization covers one workspace, so another workspace means reconnecting.
- A local route runs
npx -y webflow-mcp-server@latestwith aWEBFLOW_TOKEN. It needs Node.js 22.3.0 or higher and your own Bridge App, registered in a workspace where you have Admin permissions.
What can a Webflow MCP server read and change?
It can read and change most of a site, within your role. Data tools create, update and delete CMS items, pages, elements and styles, and data_sites_tool publishes a site. data_analyze_tool, data_optimize_tool and data_aeo_tool only read. Webflow says an agent can do only what you can do in the Designer.
What it can read
- Analytics:
data_analyze_toolreads traffic, page, engagement and goal reports, and needs Webflow Analyze. - Experiments and AI visibility:
data_optimize_toolanddata_aeo_tool, which need Webflow Optimize and Webflow AEO. - Live Designer state:
designer_toolandelement_snapshot_tool, with the Designer open.
What it can change
- Content:
data_cms_toolcreates, updates, deletes, publishes and unpublishes CMS items. - Pages and SEO:
data_pages_toolmanages pages, SEO metadata and schema markup, anddata_sitemap_toolsets sitemap inclusion. - Design:
data_element_tool,data_style_toolanddata_variable_tool. - Code and publishing:
data_scripts_toolsets head and footer code, anddata_sites_toolpublishes a site. - Enterprise:
data_enterprise_tooledits redirects and robots.txt, anddata_members_toolmanages members and roles.
How do you set up a Webflow MCP server in Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor?
Webflow documents all three. Claude and ChatGPT use listed connectors, and Cursor uses a plugin or mcp.json. Webflow's guide calls Cursor Grok Build (formerly Cursor). You need a Webflow account with at least one site, and an owner or admin has to authorize each site during OAuth.
Claude
Webflow has a listed connector in Claude, and its guide starts there. The guide also covers a custom connector with the same URL.
- In the Claude chat window, click + and then Add connectors.
- Search for Webflow, selecting All if it isn't under Featured, then click Connect.
- Log in if prompted, select the sites and workspaces Claude can access, and click Authorize App.
ChatGPT
Webflow has a listed app in ChatGPT, so you don't add a server URL. ChatGPT asks you to approve actions by default.
- Open the Webflow app listing in ChatGPT and click Connect.
- Sign in to Webflow if prompted and authorize access.
- Choose the sites or workspaces ChatGPT can access, then authorize the app.
- Mention @Webflow in a chat with your request.
Cursor
Webflow's guide calls the client Grok Build (formerly Cursor) and offers a marketplace plugin with an Add to Cursor button. By hand, add this to .cursor/mcp.json, then click Authenticate under Customize, MCPs. Cursor's docs use the same format, and Webflow suggests a per-project file.

}What can you ask a Webflow MCP server?
Start with reads, then approve each write. These examples fit Webflow's prompt library and its Data tools. The analytics prompt needs the Webflow Analyze add-on. The snapshot prompt needs the Designer open with the Bridge App connected, and the others run with the Designer closed.
Reads
List my CMS collections and their field structures.
Reads
Audit all pages for missing or weak meta titles and descriptions. List the fixes and don't change anything yet.
Writes
Find broken or insecure links across the site, including CMS content. Show the fixes and wait for my approval.
Reads
Show traffic, top pages and engagement for the last 30 days.
Reads
Capture a snapshot of the hero section so I can check it before we publish.
What are the limits of a Webflow MCP server?
Webflow's listed limits: you can't create new site projects, each authorization covers one workspace, and you can't create new localized CMS items. Campaigns works only on Early Access sites, and only interactions built with GSAP can be created or edited. Snapshots, image uploads and canvas selection need the Designer open.
- The Designer tab can time out if your browser sleeps inactive tabs, so keep it active or pinned.
- A tool that the current Designer mode doesn't allow returns a
ModeForbiddenerror. - Webflow's Data API limits are 60 requests a minute on Starter and Basic, and 120 on CMS, eCommerce and Business. Webflow doesn't say whether MCP calls share them.
- The server supports a focused set of API tools, so it doesn't cover every Webflow API endpoint.
How much does a Webflow MCP server cost?
Webflow says its MCP is on all site plans at no extra cost. Its pricing page lists the MCP server on the free Starter plan and on Basic at $15 a month per site, billed yearly. Premium is $25 a month billed yearly. Analyze, Optimize and AEO are optional add-ons on paid site plans.
- Team is $2,500 a month on an annual contract, and Enterprise pricing comes from Webflow's sales team.
- Page branches need an Enterprise plan.
- Team administration needs an Enterprise workspace plan with user management enabled.
What are the alternatives to a Webflow MCP server?
Zapier exposes Webflow actions such as Create Item and Update Item as MCP tools, which suits a small content workflow. Webflow's local server runs on your machine with an API token. For research before you edit, pair the site with an SEO server such as Ahrefs or Semrush.
- Zapier MCP: Webflow item and order actions through one Zapier connection.
- Ahrefs MCP: SEO research to feed page and CMS changes.
- Semrush MCP: Read-only keyword and site audit data.
Which skill goes with a Webflow MCP server?
Use the free Agent write safety skill before you allow any write, because this server can publish a site and change custom code. Use the Tracking break map skill if a page or script change stops tracking, since it walks the problem from ad click to report and finds the failing layer.
- Agent write safety: Sets approvals before an agent can edit pages, change code or publish.
- Tracking break map: Finds the first layer that fails if a site change breaks tracking.
We set up Claude Code and MCP for marketing teams, with access scoped per person and approval before anything changes.
