What are the limits of a Shopify MCP server?

A connected tool can't issue refunds, cancel or capture orders, or change plan, payment, tax or domain settings. It creates percentage-off codes only. list-orders returns up to 50 orders at a time, and changes run one item at a time, so a large batch can stop partway.

• Finish an incomplete batch in your Shopify admin.
• Once shared, your data leaves the Shopify environment and falls under the AI provider's terms.
• Shopify doesn't review or approve what connected tools do, and you're responsible for incorrect changes.
• Global Catalog defaults to 5 requests a second per API client. Shopify gives no numbers for store endpoints, and it throttles Checkout MCP harder than Cart MCP.
• The AI Toolkit's skill scripts and hooks send usage telemetry by default, which can include your latest prompt. Shopify documents an opt-out.

How much does a Shopify MCP server cost?

Shopify charges no extra fee for its Claude connector or ChatGPT plugin. You pay for your Shopify plan and your AI tool. Shopify's pricing page lists Basic at $29 a month billed yearly or $39 billed monthly, Grow at $79 or $105, Advanced at $299 or $399, and Plus from $2,300.

• Those are US prices. Shopify's pricing page shows local prices, so your country's figures may differ.
• The Agentic plan has no monthly fee. It's for merchants selling through AI channels without a Shopify store, and it's separate from connecting an AI tool.
