What does the Freshdesk MCP server do?
The Freshdesk MCP server lets an AI assistant work with live helpdesk data. Freshworks lists 37 tools across tickets, conversations, contacts, agents, groups, companies and solution articles. It can search tickets, read conversation history, add notes, reply on tickets and update help articles. Calls run in real time against your live Freshdesk data.
- Outbound MCP is a separate Freshworks feature that runs the other way: Freddy AI Agents use tools in other apps such as Notion and Linear. It doesn't let Claude or Cursor read your tickets.
- The Freshworks Developer MCP server at
https://mcp.freshworks.dev/mcpcovers custom app submissions and app status. It has no ticket or customer tools.
Is there an official Freshdesk MCP server?
Yes. Freshworks publishes it, and its support article says the integration is generally available from 10 September 2026. It's supported only in Freshdesk 2021 and Freshdesk Unified Omni 2026. Older variants aren't supported. Freshdesk isn't listed as a connector in AI client marketplaces yet, so you add the URL and key by hand.
- Community server:
effytech/freshdesk_mcpis an MIT-licensed local server from the effytech GitHub account. Its page makes no claim of a link to Freshworks. It lists a delete ticket tool, which the official tool list doesn't have.
What is the Freshdesk MCP server URL, and how do you sign in?
The URL is per account: https://<subdomain>.freshdesk.com/mcp. Custom domains aren't supported. Sign-in is API key only, with no OAuth. Each user connects with their own key from their Freshdesk profile settings, sent as an Authorization header. Admins can copy the URL under Admin Settings > Apps & Integrations > MCP.
- Only administrator and agent roles can use MCP, and the key carries that person's permissions.
- If your account restricts IP addresses, allow the ranges Freshdesk lists for your region.
What can the Freshdesk MCP server read and change?
Any user with a valid key gets all 37 tools, because Freshworks has no tool-level access control and hasn't published a read-only mode. Each action stays within that user's permissions. The tool list has create, update and reply tools and no delete tools. Treat replyTicket as customer-facing, because it replies on the ticket conversation.

How do you set up the Freshdesk MCP server in Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor?
Freshworks documents Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code and Microsoft Copilot Studio. It names no ChatGPT steps. Copy the URL from Admin Settings > Apps & Integrations > MCP, take your API key from your profile settings, then add both to your client. Use a key from a limited role, because the role sets what the assistant can do.
Claude
Freshworks documents Claude Code and Claude Desktop. It has no steps for Claude's custom connector. The generic route there is the Request headers field, and on Team and Enterprise plans everyone then shares that one key.
- In Claude Code, run
claude mcp add my-remote-server --transport http https://<subdomain>.freshdesk.com/mcp --header "Authorization: <api-key>". - In Claude Desktop, go to Claude > Settings > Developer > Edit Config and add the entry below.
- Save, then quit and relaunch Claude Desktop. Complete any browser prompts.

}ChatGPT
Freshworks names no ChatGPT steps, and Freshdesk isn't listed as a marketplace connector. ChatGPT's custom MCP form offers OAuth or no authentication. Freshdesk takes an API key header only, so that form can't connect to it.
Cursor
Freshworks documents Cursor. Add the server to .cursor/mcp.json in your project root or home directory, then check it under View: Open MCP Settings > Tools > Installed MCP Servers.

}What can you ask the Freshdesk MCP server?
Good first prompts stay read-only and name a status or date. These examples fit the tools Freshworks lists for tickets, conversations and solution articles. The note example keeps a person in the loop, so the assistant shows its draft first. Each successful tool call counts as one action, so narrow questions use less of your allowance.
Reads
Get all tickets created today and group them by status. Show ticket IDs and tell me which filters you used.
Reads
Read the conversations on ticket 12345 and summarise the customer's issue and what has been tried. Don't change anything.
Reads
Find the solution article for payment refunds and tell me what it says about timing.
Writes
Draft a note on ticket 12345 with a summary and next step. Show it to me before you add it.
What are the limits of the Freshdesk MCP server?
Freshdesk's rate limits are 25, 50 and 100 actions a minute on Growth, Pro and Enterprise. Included actions are 1,200, 6,000 and 12,000 per account, and they don't roll over. Reads and writes count the same. Admins get alerts from 50% to 100% of the allowance. Freshworks doesn't say what happens at the limit.
- Freshdesk's plan table labels the included actions annual, while its FAQ talks about a monthly allowance, prorated on shorter billing cycles. Check your billing page.
- Ticket text comes from customers, so a ticket can carry instructions aimed at your assistant. Freshworks' security article doesn't cover prompt injection. Keep
replyTicketand the other write tools behind your client's approval step, which is the only per-tool control you have. - Large results arrive in batches, and the client fetches the rest with
nextCursor. Complex requests can use several actions. - MCP actions go into Freshdesk's existing logging and audit systems, and changes appear in activity history.
How much does the Freshdesk MCP server cost?
MCP comes with supported plans, so there's no separate fee to connect. Freshdesk's pricing page shows Growth at $19, Pro at $55 and Enterprise at $89 per agent per month, billed annually. Extra MCP actions cost $15 per 1,000. Freshworks lists no free plan, and MCP needs one of these three.
- Freshdesk's free trial runs 14 days on Enterprise. Freshworks doesn't say how many MCP actions a trial includes.
- The add-on is called an MCP Action Pack. Buy it through your account manager or the billing section of admin settings.
What are the alternatives to the Freshdesk MCP server?
The main alternatives are an automation bridge, your warehouse, or another support tool's server. Zapier can expose Freshdesk operations as MCP tools, such as create ticket, update ticket and add notes. If tickets already sync to a warehouse, a warehouse server answers reporting questions without using any Freshdesk actions.
- Zapier MCP: Freshdesk ticket, contact and company actions through one Zapier connection.
- Snowflake MCP: Ticket reporting, if Freshdesk data lands in your warehouse.
- Intercom MCP: An official hosted server, if you run Intercom beside or instead of Freshdesk.
- Zendesk MCP: Third-party servers, if you run Zendesk beside or instead of Freshdesk.
Which skill goes with the Freshdesk MCP server?
Use the free Agent write safety skill before anyone connects a key, because this server can reply on live tickets and Freshworks has no tool-level access control. Use the Marketing context kit to write down your ticket fields and definitions once, so every answer starts from the same rules and the assistant has less to guess.
- Agent write safety: Sets approvals before an agent can reply to customers or change tickets.
- Marketing context kit: Holds your field names and definitions in one folder for every prompt.
We set up Claude Code and MCP for marketing teams, with access scoped per person and approval before anything changes.
