What does a Zendesk MCP server do?
A Zendesk MCP server lets an AI assistant read tickets, comments and help center articles and, where allowed, update them. Zendesk describes its announced server as connecting tickets, knowledge and customer data to outside AI systems. Third-party servers already do this through Zendesk's API, each with its own tool list.
- The Zendesk MCP client is the opposite direction: Zendesk connects out to other MCP servers so its action flows and AI agents can use their tools. It doesn't let Claude or ChatGPT read your tickets.
Is there an official Zendesk MCP server?
Not one you can connect yet. Zendesk announced the Zendesk MCP Server on 19 May 2026 with early access planned for summer, and its early access list doesn't show it. Swifteq runs a third-party server listed on the Zendesk Marketplace, and open-source servers exist.
- Swifteq: a commercial MCP server for Zendesk from Swifteq, a third party.
reminia/zendesk-mcp-server: an Apache-2.0 community server that runs on your own machine. Its page states no link to Zendesk, Inc.
What is the Zendesk MCP server URL, and how do you sign in?
Zendesk has published no MCP server URL. Swifteq's connector URL is https://mcp.swifteq.com/api/mcp/mcp, and you sign in with your Swifteq account after authorizing your Zendesk account. The community server runs locally, so it has no public URL, and it signs in with Zendesk OAuth per operator.
- Swifteq asks you to choose read-only, or read and write, when you authorize Zendesk. Read-only is the default.
- The community server's API token sign-in still works but is deprecated in favour of OAuth.
What can a Zendesk MCP server read and change?
That depends on the server, because Zendesk hasn't published a tool list of its own. Swifteq reads tickets, help center content, macros, users and organizations, and changes them only if you allow writes. It has no delete or spam tools. The community server's six ticket tools read and write tickets.
What it can read
- Swifteq: tickets, attachments, help center articles, macros, users and organizations. CSAT is for admins only.
- Swifteq admin audits, such as unused triggers and inactive agents, are read-only.
reminia/zendesk-mcp-server:get_tickets,get_ticketandget_ticket_comments, plus help center articles as a resource.
What it can change
- Swifteq, with write access: internal notes and replies, ticket fields and tags, new tickets and links to problem tickets.
- Swifteq, off until an account owner enables them: public replies, publishing articles, user and organization changes, macro changes and merging tickets.
reminia/zendesk-mcp-server:create_ticket,update_ticketandcreate_ticket_comment.
How do you set up a Zendesk MCP server in Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor?
Zendesk publishes no client setup for its announced server, so these steps follow Swifteq's. Create a free Swifteq account, authorize your Zendesk account and choose read-only, then add the connector URL in your AI client and sign in. Swifteq documents Claude and ChatGPT, and Cursor needs a step from Swifteq first.
Claude
Swifteq documents Claude on the web, Desktop and Code as a custom connector.
- Authorize your Zendesk account in Swifteq and leave it on read-only.
- In Claude, go to Customize > Connectors, click + Add, then Add custom connector.
- Enter a name and
https://mcp.swifteq.com/api/mcp/mcp, click Add, then Connect, and sign in with your Swifteq account. - Turn the connector on in each chat from the + button, then Connectors.

Swifteq's steps use Developer mode on Plus, Pro, Business or Enterprise. OpenAI's own guide adds custom servers from Plugins, so follow what your ChatGPT shows.
- In ChatGPT, go to Settings > Apps > Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode.
- In Settings > Apps, click Create app.
- Enter a name,
https://mcp.swifteq.com/api/mcp/mcpas the connection and OAuth as the authentication. - Accept the warning, click Create and sign in with your Swifteq account.
Cursor
Swifteq has no standard Cursor flow: you send it Cursor's callback URL so it can allow it. After that, add the server to ~/.cursor/mcp.json.

}What can you ask a Zendesk MCP server?
Good first prompts stay read-only and name a date range, such as a review of slow tickets or macro overlap. These examples fit the tickets, macros and help center tools Swifteq lists. The drafting prompt keeps a person in the loop, so the assistant shows its work before any change.
Reads
List tickets solved last week that took more than one reopen, grouped by group and tag. Show ticket IDs and tell me which filters you used.
Reads
Find macros that overlap in wording or haven't been used in 90 days. List each macro with its usage. Don't change anything.
Reads
From the last 30 days of tickets tagged billing, list the questions our help center doesn't answer. Link the tickets behind each gap.
Writes
Draft an internal note on ticket 12345 summarising the customer's issue and next step. Show it to me before you add it.
What are the limits of a Zendesk MCP server?
Each third-party server sets its own limits. Swifteq's free tier stops at 500 MCP calls a month per Zendesk account, shared by everyone connected to it. Your Zendesk role still applies, because each person signs in with their own login. Zendesk has published no limits for its announced server.
- Search results only include tickets the signed-in user can see, and they don't say what was left out. Use an Admin or Agent login for reports that count tickets.
- Some search features need Zendesk Suite Growth or higher.
- Swifteq says it doesn't store ticket conversations, apart from an optional ticket data store that an account owner has to enable.
- Ticket text comes from customers, so keep tools that read it out of chats that can also send or change data.
How much does a Zendesk MCP server cost?
Zendesk hasn't published pricing for its server. Swifteq is free for 500 calls a month per Zendesk account, then €49 a month for the account and its first user, plus €9 a month per extra user. A team of 10 pays €130 a month. The community server is free, and you run it yourself.
- Swifteq's annual plan is €490 a year for the account and its first user, plus €84 a year per extra user.
- The Zendesk MCP client is for Suite Growth and above, and Support Team and above.
What are the alternatives to a Zendesk MCP server?
The main alternatives are an automation bridge, your warehouse, or moving the question to another support tool's server. Zapier can expose Zendesk actions as tools in an MCP client. If tickets already sync to a warehouse, a warehouse server answers reporting questions without touching Zendesk at all.
- Zapier MCP: Zendesk actions through one Zapier connection.
- Snowflake MCP: Ticket reporting, if Zendesk data lands in your warehouse.
- Intercom MCP: An official server, if you run Intercom beside or instead of Zendesk.
Which skill goes with a Zendesk MCP server?
Use the free Agent write safety skill before you turn on any write access, because a support server can reach live customer conversations. Use the Marketing context kit to write down your ticket fields and definitions once, so every answer starts from the same rules and the assistant has less to guess.
- Agent write safety: Sets approvals before an agent can change tickets or send replies.
- Marketing context kit: Holds your field names and definitions in one folder for every prompt.
We set up Claude Code and MCP for marketing teams, with access scoped per person and approval before anything changes. For Zendesk itself, see Zendesk consulting.
