Which plan fits
Enterprise is Snowflake’s most popular edition. Business Critical adds private connections and customer-managed keys, and would make this bill $1,749.
What this assumes
List prices for AWS US East (Northern Virginia), paid on demand. Other regions cost more.
Warehouses are billed per second, with a 1-minute minimum each time one starts.
A warehouse suspends when it’s idle and uses no credits while suspended.
Cloud services stay under 10% of daily warehouse credits, so they add nothing.
Left out of this estimate
AI features, serverless features and data transfer out of the region.

How does Snowflake pricing work?
You pay for credits and storage. A running warehouse burns credits by size, from 1 an hour on X-Small, doubling with each size up. Snowflake’s list price for a credit is $2.00 on Standard, $3.00 on Enterprise and $4.00 on Business Critical in AWS US East. Storage is $23.00 per TB a month.
Credits = credits per hour × hours a day × days a month
Compute = credits × price per credit
Storage = TB stored × $23.00
Monthly bill = compute + storage

Snowflake cost worked example
A hypothetical 50 to 100 person B2B SaaS company is on Enterprise. A Small warehouse runs loads for 3 hours a day, another Small serves dashboards for 4 hours a day, and it stores 3 TB.
Credits: (2 × 3 + 2 × 4) × 30 days = 420 credits.
Compute: 420 × $3.00 = $1,260.
Storage: 3 TB × $23.00 = $69.00.
The estimate is $1,329 a month at list price. One more hour a day on a Small warehouse adds $180.00, while 10 more people reading dashboards add nothing on their own.
What are Snowflake’s list rates?
On demand in AWS US East, a credit costs $2.00 on Standard, $3.00 on Enterprise and $4.00 on Business Critical. Storage is $23.00 per TB a month. The consumption table sets how many credits each warehouse size burns per hour, and that count stays the same on every edition.
Prices change by region. AWS EU Dublin credits are $2.60, $3.90 and $5.20 across the same three editions.
Does Snowflake cost more with more users?
Snowflake has no seat fee, so a new user costs nothing by themselves. The bill rises when more people keep a warehouse awake for longer, or when many run queries at once and you add clusters. Ten readers on a cached dashboard can cost far less than one analyst running heavy queries.
What makes a Snowflake bill jump?
Running time and size. A warehouse left awake all day burns credits even with little to do, and each size up doubles the rate. A Large warehouse uses 8 credits an hour against 1 on X-Small. Multi-cluster warehouses multiply it again by the number of clusters running.
How do I keep Snowflake costs down?
Set warehouses to auto-suspend soon after queries finish, so idle time stops burning credits. Start small and size up only when queries run too slowly. Give loads and dashboards separate warehouses so you can see which one costs what. Add a resource monitor or budget to warn you before a month runs over.
Which Snowflake edition do I need?
Standard covers most small teams. Enterprise adds extra compute for busy periods and 90-day data recovery, at $3.00 a credit against $2.00. Business Critical adds private connections, customer-managed keys and support for HIPAA and PCI DSS, at $4.00. The edition changes the price of every credit, so pick it for a real need.
What does this estimate leave out?
It covers warehouse compute and storage. It leaves out AI features, serverless features and data transfer out of the region. Cloud services are only free up to 10% of daily warehouse credits, so a workload with very many small queries can add a line that this estimate doesn’t show.
Snowflake suits SQL-first marketing teams; Databricks suits Spark and ML teams. Smallest warehouses: $2 to $2.70 vs $2.80 an hour. See a worked monthly bill.
