GTM container audit
Runs a read-only audit of a Google Tag Manager web container from a GTM export JSON (container JSON), the Tag Manager API or a GTM MCP server's read tools, and rates each tag, trigger, variable and consent setting PASS, WARN or FAIL with the reason. Covers consent settings and defaults, duplicate Google tags and page views, retired tags, conversion triggers, tag sequencing, Custom HTML, destination IDs, ecommerce wiring, server routing and version hygiene, with a dependency-free Node script. Produces a findings report and a change list for a human; never publishes.
Use when asked for a GTM audit or GTM health check, to review or clean up Tag Manager, before changing a container, after an agency hands over GTM, when purchases duplicate in GA4 or conversions vanish, when consent mode is not working in GTM or tags fire before consent, when Tag Assistant shows unexpected tags, or when using Stape's GTM MCP server.
